| LRP ARCHIVES: FEATURED ASIA
RESEARCH Most of the research,
analysis, and projections produced by Laguna Research Partners are prepared for the private
use of specific investment, corporate, government, and individual clients. Provided
below are samples from our limited public research archives.
Crisis on the China Rim: An Economic, Crude Oil, and
Military Analysis
"There is a crisis rising on the China Rim, a crisis
made of economic imbalances, energy insecurities, ancient hatreds, and unsettled scores. The
catalyst for this crisis is success itself, the success of the Peoples Republic of China
in its de facto rejection of a failed experiment in communism and its rapid
transformation into a thriving market economy. The inseparable companion of this success,
though, is an insatiable hunger and thirst for precious resources... most important among
these, crude oil."

(LRP's "Crisis on the China Rim..." analysis has
been quoted by online financial publications including Bloomberg News and was the
subject of a dedicated article in Oil & Gas Journal. On its first full day
of release, LRP's "Crisis on the China Rim..." set a one-day download record at
ResearchConnect.com by more than 100%.)
Vietnam: A "Listed Companies" Update Report
The world's economic "center of gravity" continues
to shift from the Atlantic region towards the Pacific region, and the economic prospects of
the United States are becoming more intertwined with those of Asia than ever before. The
objective of Project Asia research and analysis from Laguna Research Partners is to
provide our research users with proprietary, actionable insights regarding this important
shift.

(Our Listed Companies Update Reports for Vietnam
track quarterly operating performance metrics and news developments related to companies
listed on that countrys Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre, founded in 2000.)
LRP ASIA RESEARCH TOURS
Laguna Research Partners' 2004 Asia Research Tour, our firm's
inaugural research tour in Asia, included interviews with company, university, and government
officials in the Vietnamese cities of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City (Sai Gon), Can Tho, Soc Trang
and Ca Mau. (These cities are identified in the map to the left.) During these
research trips, we have seen ample evidence supporting the view that Vietnam might prove to be
Asia's next "Tiger Economy". Vietnam's 2000 Bilateral Trade Agreement with the
US, Vietnam's adoption of WTO and other world trade norms, and the impressive work ethic of
the Vietnamese people are key factors in the formulation of this opinion.
LRP ASIA RESEARCH SOURCES |
| ASIA: IN-DEPTH RESEARCH In preparing to initiate research coverage of Asia, we have immersed
ourselves in the study of the history, business culture, and languages of this region.
Two books that we have found particularly useful during this
pre-coverage phase - China's New Order: Society, Politics, and Economy in Transition and Doing
Business in China - are listed here for the benefit of our research users. |
| LRP RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS: Project
Asia Laguna Research Partners produces
research, analysis, and forecasting regarding a wide range of companies, industries, and
geographic regions. From time to time, we identify a compelling subject area that is not
covered effectively by traditional research sources, and we make that area the subject of
"Special Coverage". LRP's Project Asia is one such area. |
