| Welcome to LRP Blog HQ. LRP Blogs were initiated in May 2005, following the release of our firm's "Crisis
on the China Rim: An Economic, Crude Oil, and Military Analysis" and the
considerable debate that our analysis generated.
While Laguna Research Partners serves all industries with
research and consulting services, LRP Blogs will focus on topics that are of particular
interest to our research users and consulting clients. Our blogs currently include China Rim: Economy, Crude Oil, and Military and Homeland Defense.
LRP Blogs are maintained in a simple FOTW (fly on the
wall) format. In the spirit of the famed New York City Algonquin Round
Table of the 1920s, views are discussed by a core group of experts including
analysts, authors, and CEOs. Additional commentary and insight are provided from
time-to-time by our blog users.
Laguna Research Partners attempts to
differentiate LRP Blogs as a source of unique analytical insight and entertaining
commentary by following several guidelines:
· Value-Added Analysis: The primary
focus of LRP Blogs is to provide value-added analysis and insight regarding each blog
topic.
· Links: LRP Blog posts also provide
links to value-added articles, studies, and books. Each link post is accompanied by
brief remarks concerning why these links might be of interest to LRP Blog users.
· The Larger Story: Weblogs are
increasingly comprised of disjointed posts, each having a shorter and shorter "shelf
life". In contrast, each LRP Blog post has substance and, as a result, a shelf
life of more than just a few hours. And LRP Blog posts, when taken together, tell a
larger story that each core contributor feels is critical to the topic in play.
· Humor: Communicating, in all walks of
life, is all about connecting with the reader or listener, and humor is often the best
method used to make a point. Accordingly, humor is encouraged on LRP Blogs.
The drier, the better.
· Transparency: Flashy nicknames might
be well-suited to cats, dogs, rap artists, and fighter pilots, but they are not likely to
further our firm's goal of maintaining a credible blogs forum. All contributors to
LRP Blogs are identified by the names originally given to them by their proud parents.
